This month, we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Mary Campbell, a dedicated volunteer who has been sharing her time and compassion with Kevin Guest House for the past year. ❤️
Mary volunteers in so many ways around the House, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever she is needed. But one of the ways she truly goes above and beyond is through caring for our guest rooms. Mary puts so much time, attention, and heart into making each room feel clean, comfortable, welcoming, and truly special for the families who call Kevin Guest House their home away from home. 🏡✨
For Mary, volunteering at Kevin Guest House is deeply personal. Her nephew received a double lung transplant and had to travel to Cleveland for care. During that experience, her family realized firsthand how difficult it can be to find the kind of support that Kevin Guest House provides. That experience opened her eyes to just how special this place is and inspired her to give back.
When asked about her favorite part of volunteering, Mary shared that it’s the people and the purpose. She especially values being able to spend time with the families staying at the House and simply being there for them during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
One memory that stands out is her time with Phyllis, who was staying at Kevin Guest House while caring for her sister, who had been transferred to ECMC. Phyllis was navigating the emotional and physical challenges of being a caregiver while traveling back and forth each day. Mary remembers one day when Phyllis came downstairs feeling especially down. Simply being there, spending time together, and offering a little companionship made a meaningful difference.
That is what Mary brings to Kevin Guest House: kindness, compassion, and a willingness to be there. Whether she is making a guest room sparkle or offering comfort to a family member who needs a friend, Mary reminds us that sometimes the smallest acts of care can make the biggest impact. 💙
