A Thank You That Came Full Circle
When Grace and Skip came to Buffalo, they were facing a difficult and uncertain time. Skip was receiving treatment for a tumor at Roswell Park, and the couple needed a place to stay close to the hospital during his care.
For nearly a month, Kevin Guest House became their home away from home.
During their stay, Grace and Skip experienced more than a comfortable place to rest between appointments and treatments. They became part of a community that understood what they were going through. One person who made a particularly lasting impression was Tamika. Through her warmth, compassion, and genuine care, Tamika helped Grace and Skip feel welcomed and supported throughout their time at Kevin Guest House. Her kindness was something they carried with them even after they returned home.
But Grace and Skip didn’t want their gratitude to end when their stay did.
After returning home, they decided to come back to Kevin Guest House to personally thank Tamika and the community that had supported them. They also brought a thoughtful gift: a brand-new set of pots and pans for the Kevin Guest House kitchen.
It was a simple gesture, but one filled with meaning. The kitchen is a place where families gather, share meals, and find moments of normalcy during difficult circumstances. By donating something that would be used by future guests, Grace and Skip found a way to give back to the same community that had given so much to them.
Their return was a beautiful reminder that the connections made at Kevin Guest House can extend far beyond a guest’s stay. A kind word, a helping hand, or a welcoming smile can stay with a family long after they leave.
