We are grateful to our board members whose term ended in 2020 but continue to support the house and to the new 2021 board members who will be joining us soon.
Outgoing Board Members.
Tom Garvey Sr.
(Garvey family member)
Capital Campaign Co-Chair, Bldg & grounds and finance committee member
During his term, Tom and his lovely wife Mary travelled several times a year from their home in NJ and Garvey family Lake House in PA to be a part of our big moments and spend extra time meeting our guests. As the older brother to Kevin, he remembers fondly during his times at school at St. Bonaventure coming up to strip wallpaper and paint walls with his parents.Tom brought his siblings together & their friends to accomplish our first ever capital expansion as our collective largest donors in our history. His significant contribution is closing our campaign so that we can serve double the number of guests and become handicap accessible for the first time. Tom has agreed to stay on our special projects committee to explore long-term sustainability.
Steffane Smith
HSBC Bank
Steffane came on right away ready to work and make an impact. She served on our Business Development & Marketing and corporate giving committees. Often times Steffane was seen volunteering organizing flower orders or promoting contests at our golf tournament.
Samantha Palisano (on the right)
General Physicians
Samantha started out serving on our House Operations committee as our representative from the Kaleida Health system and brought great perspective from one of our major partners Buffalo General Medical Center. She also took great pride in building that Kaleida Health partnership and often advocated for more employee involvement and accompany senior management to our events to learn more. As she transition her role to General Physicians, she served on our Anniversary Celebration committee introducing more healthcare workers to our campus.
Incoming Board Members
Hugh Garvey
(Garvey family member)
Hugh is the youngest brother of Kevin’s siblings and has been traveling from his homes in Cleveland and Florida with his wife Nina for many years to support the house. He worked closely with brother Tom to raise funds for our expansion in honor of Sister Margaret as another St. Bonaventure alumnus. Hugh is excited to continue efforts on the finance and special projects to help us move into the next stage of our history but has already began working on improving the aesthetics of the exterior of the house and the grand Victorian Garvey main house painted for the first time in over two decades.
Doug Muth, CPA
Lumsden McCormick
Is a former board member who took some time off our board and returned as our treasurer once again to keep our books in order. Doug has served on our Finance and Bites & Brews committees bringing new insight into our investment and gift acceptance policies. Doug has also recruited colleagues to help us streamline accounting practices and bookkeeping procedures that in the long run will save staff much needed time.
Andrea Tarshus
Tarshus Law Firm
Andrea started as a dinner volunteer bringing one of the most unique meals, all prepared gluten free including muffins with inspirational notes inside each. A passion for cooking, Andrea wanted to do more and asked to get more involved in our Business Development and Marketing committee. She quickly jumped into the lead role for the Kevin’s Online Auction hosted over a two month period and helped keep us on task to meet our goals. From there she recruited two local gluten free bakeries to host the Cookies for Kevin project and solicited friends to also support the Adopt a Cookie room project that will help keep one room open for a year and she wants to take a step further and donate items to theme that room.
