Dear Friends of Kevin Guest House,

We are celebrating another fantastic year at Kevin Guest House filled with many exciting promotions that helped get the word out about our mission including the 2017 Junior League of Buffalo and The Buffalo News Decorators’ Show House and the launch of our “Who is Kevin?” marketing campaign. A wonderful surprise this summer, nearly all of Kevin’s siblings and their families were able to join us for a reunion at the 45th Anniversary Celebration to see the progress at our new Russell J. Salvatore Hospitality House at 766 Ellicott Street. We are nearly ready to open our fourth building, welcoming those needing handicap access and doubling the amount of guests we are currently able to serve. With just over $400,000 left to raise for our capital campaign to open these doors, we need all the help from our friends for this final stretch. Thanks to most recent major donors that have brought us that much closer to our goal such as The Statler Foundation, Josephine Goodyear Foundation, Swift Family Trust, Cutco Corporation, East Hill Foundation, Praxair Inc., the Whitehead Family, and most significantly The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation. There is also a challenge grant by Tom & Hugh Garvey to their fellow alumni at St. Bonaventure University in honor of Sister Margaret Carney.

How can you help? Consider introducing us to a friend you think might have interest. Simply ask them if they want to go on a tour and we will do the rest. One way we are reaching out to new supporters is by launching a new young professionals group called Giving Hearts. The concept is simple, recruit 20 individuals to adopt us for one year, ask them to commit to raising $1,000 each for Kevin Guest House and attend six various networking, professional development, volunteer opportunities and fundraising events. Then nominate someone by the end of the year to take their place for the next class. The goal is to have them open their circle of influence and invite more friends to get involved with us. Hopefully they’ll be so inspired and want to do even more to keep our families together during medical crisis. We’re delighted to have Brittany Frey (Buffalo Spree), Carolyn Leed (Leed Law) and Matt Whitehead (Howard Hanna) lead this first ever program. You can nominate a young professional yourself by contacting us directly to join Giving Hearts or one of our fundraising committees.

What’s more, long-time friends, the Buffalo Sabres and John W. Danforth launched a one-of-a-kind Rick Jeanneret bobblehead with half of the proceeds benefiting Kevin Guest House. Duke Reilly from Danforth has been a supporter for many years, he and Rick were happy to select us to partner with this promotion. It was so popular; they sold out in 25 hours!

We hope you’ll join us and share our success whether by scheduling a tour, promoting our efforts on social media or bringing a friend to an event. We are truly grateful for your commitment to our guests!

Sincerely,
