Kevin Guest House Hosts First Annual Supper in the Street Event

Saturday, September 14, 2019, Kevin Guest House hosted Supper in the Street, a first-of-its-kind fundraiser featuring “Buffalo’s longest dinner table,” right in the middle of Ellicott Street. An event of epic proportions, Supper in the Street quickly became the most talked-about event of the season, raising nearly $55,000 for Kevin Guest House.

Nearly 400 members of the community gathered at the outdoor table for an evening that emulated one of the core offerings at Kevin Guest House: the nightly, volunteer-led dinners. “Kevin Guest House has always been committed to providing the comforts of hospitality, communal meals and accommodation for patients and their families,” said Lynsey Weaver, Executive Director of Kevin Guest House. “Through this special event, shared this spirit of breaking bread with our neighbors, on the largest scale possible.”

The evening kicked off with a VIP experience featuring tastings from Toutant and samples from Belt Line Brewery & Kitchen, Buffalo Distilling Co., Town Branch Bourbon, Moët & Chandon and Grapevine d’Vine Winery, along with entertainment from local musicians, Alternate Roots. Once gathered around the table, guests enjoyed a family-style dinner under the direction of Amy Phillips of Private Knives Catering, which incorporated locally-grown produce graciously donated by Oles Family Farm.

“We will serve another 100,000 people over the next 25 to 50 years, and do so with your help,” spoke Tom Garvey, brother to Kevin, namesake of Kevin Guest House. “We provide dignity, food, shelter and companionship for people who are in the most difficult, trying time of their lives. Our commitment is to help them through those difficult challenges.”

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed to this event,” says Weaver. “From the planning to success, Supper in the Street would not have been possible without the support of a dedicated committee, and 100+ volunteers who were involved.” All proceeds directly support the mission of Kevin Guest House, which is to provide a comfortable and supportive home away from home for patients and their families traveling to Buffalo for medical care.

Kevin Guest House thanks all event sponsors including the Buffalo Sabres, Sinatra & Company and Penn Power Systems (Platinum); Berardi Immigration Law, Buffalo Lodging Associates, ACV Auctions and Kaleida Health (Gold);  Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Phillips Lytle LLP, BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, Singer Legal PLLC, and Linde (Silver); and 19 IDEAS, Ashland Pest Control, Balanced Bright Life, Bank on Buffalo, Buffalo Spree, Delta Sonic, Evans Bank, Maureen’s Buffalo Wholesale Flower Market, Ferguson Electric, and Rich Products (Bronze).

Heartful gratitude is also extended to Costanzo’s Bakery, Russell’s Steak, Chops & More, Rich Products, FIFCO, Flying Bison, Amherst Wine & Liquor, Pepsi Bottling Co. and Morgan Services for contributing to the success of the event.
